Use AI Translations for Email[edit | edit source]
With ActiveCampaign's AI Translations for Email feature, you can send personalized email campaigns in each subscriber’s language with just one send. This capability is crucial for driving engagement, building trust, and increasing conversions across global audiences without the need for extensive manual translation efforts.
This feature supports an impressive 75 languages, making it easier for marketers to cater to diverse customer bases. However, it's important to note that you need to purchase Activities to utilize this feature effectively.
How to Access AI Translations for Email[edit | edit source]
To access the AI Translations for Email feature, you must first create a standard email campaign using the Email Designer. The option to enable translations is located on the campaign summary page of each email you create.
Step-by-Step Instructions[edit | edit source]
Here’s how to translate your standard campaign using AI:
1. **Create a Standard Campaign**: Go to the Campaigns page in your account and select the option to create a standard campaign. Make sure to supply all required information on the Campaign Summary page, including the subject line, From name, From email, and recipients.
2. **Select Email Designer**: Once you are on the Campaign Summary page, choose the Email Designer to create the campaign.
3. **Choose Your Template**: You may select a template, use a blank canvas, or utilize AI to generate email content, including images.
4. **Edit Content**: Customize the email content and design as desired. When finished, click on Next.
5. **Enable Translations**: On the Campaign Summary page, locate the checkbox for "Translate to a contact’s language." Initially, this option will appear greyed out since it is not activated yet.
6. **Translate Campaign**: A modal window will appear. Click Translate campaign. The AI system will then translate your email to all preferred languages, which should take just a few moments depending on the complexity of the content.
7. **Review and Edit Translations**: Once the translations are completed, review the translations by clicking the Review button next to the translation checkbox on the Campaign Summary page. A list of translations will appear on the left pane. Selecting each translation allows you to review the email's content and design.
8. **Make Edits**: If changes are necessary, click the item to update, edit the content and images, and then click Save edits on the left pane. To close the editor, press Esc or click Close.
Configuration Options and Settings[edit | edit source]
When using the AI Translations for Email feature, there are several configuration options and settings you need to be aware of:
- **Activities**: In order to utilize AI translations, you must purchase Activities, with each translated campaign using one Activity. - **Preferred Language Field**: This is essential for determining each contact's language. There are two scenarios:
- For new accounts created after June 24, 2025, the Preferred Language field is automatically created. - For accounts purchased before this date, you need to manually create a Preferred Language custom field.
To create this field: 1. Click Contacts > Fields in the left menu. 2. Click the Add Field button and fill out the modal window with:
- Field Name: Preferred Language - Field Type: Select Language.
3. Click Add to save.
If you have an existing field that tracks preferred languages, it needs to be mapped to the newly created field. This involves: 1. Editing the Preferred Language field. 2. Checking the box for Automatically map values from an existing field. 3. Selecting the field you want to map and clicking Next.
After mapping, your contacts without a preferred language will receive the default version of the campaign.
Best Practices and Tips[edit | edit source]
- **Final Content Changes**: It's highly recommended to finalize your email content before generating translations; any modifications to the original campaign after generating translations will require re-translation from scratch. - **Review Translations**: Always review each translated email for accuracy before sending to ensure that the intended message is conveyed correctly in all languages. - **Mapping Existing Fields**: If you have existing fields for preferred languages, ensure they're set up correctly to avoid disruptions in sending campaigns.
Common Use Cases with Examples[edit | edit source]
- **Global Campaigns**: A company launching a product in multiple countries can use AI Translations to communicate effectively with localized messages, enhancing customer connection. - **Multilingual Newsletters**: A business that has subscribers speaking different languages can utilize this feature to send newsletters that cater to the preferred languages of their contacts, maintaining engagement and reducing unsubscribe rates.
