The SMS add-on is available for purchase to customers with a Plus, Professional, or Enterprise plan. This article provides an overview of the upcoming KYC (Know Your Customer) guidelines implemented by UK carriers in 2024 and the steps to register. These new guidelines aim to protect customers against spam, fraud, and malicious activities.

ActiveCampaign is committed to ensuring a seamless user experience by complying with these regulations, allowing you to continue enjoying uninterrupted messaging services. You can submit all required KYC information in our SMS Manager, with approval times typically taking less than 2 business days.

Take Note[edit | edit source]

  • ActiveCampaign accounts created before June 4, 2024, with a UK-based number, must register with KYC by September 30, 2024.
  • Once registered, you will be assigned a new local number. It is recommended to complete this registration ahead of time to update your Subscribe by SMS feature with your new number. All automations will begin using your newly assigned numbers as soon as you are approved.
  • For ActiveCampaign accounts created on or after June 4, 2024, with a UK-based number, you will automatically go through our UK form within SMS Manager to register. Once your numbers have been approved, you can start sending messages within ActiveCampaign. What is KYC, and how do I benefit from it?[edit | edit source]

KYC (Know Your Customer) involves collecting essential details such as name, address, and date of birth for individuals, as well as company specifics like name, registered address, and business verification documents for businesses. These data points serve as critical identifiers to validate the authenticity of users and organizations participating in A2P communications.

Carriers and regulators aim to establish a more trusted and secure messaging and voice ecosystem, helping to protect consumers from spam, fraud, and malicious actors. By ensuring that users and businesses are properly identified and verified, you contribute to fostering a safer and more reliable communication environment.

Benefits[edit | edit source]

  • **Improved deliverability** - Carriers consider the newly assigned UK numbers more trustworthy, enhancing the chances of message delivery to the intended recipient.
  • **Two-way messaging** - This allows customers to initiate a conversation with a business through text messaging, similar to a customer service line.
  • **Better recognition** - Local numbers foster recipient trust and recognition, enhancing engagement.
