WhatsApp Messaging add-on[edit | edit source]

You can purchase WhatsApp Messaging separately, or you can add this feature to your Plus, Professional, or Enterprise plan. With ActiveCampaign, you have several options for purchasing WhatsApp Messaging to communicate with your customers.

In this article, you will learn about our WhatsApp Messaging plans and how to purchase WhatsApp as an add-on to your current ActiveCampaign Email account or as a standalone feature.

Take note[edit | edit source]

  • You can purchase a WhatsApp account through ActiveCampaign without an ActiveCampaign Email account.
  • You must have a Plus, Professional, or Enterprise ActiveCampaign Email plan if you wish to purchase the WhatsApp add-on.
  • Within the WhatsApp Messaging plan, there are additional add-ons for message credits, additional WhatsApp lines, or additional user seats.
  • To the extent there is any inconsistency between this help article in English and any other language, the English version will control.

About WhatsApp Messaging plans[edit | edit source]

There are three different tier offerings for our WhatsApp Messaging feature:

Core[edit | edit source]

This is an entry-level plan with basic WhatsApp Messaging features and can be purchased without an ActiveCampaign Email account. It includes the following:

  • 3 account users
  • 2 WhatsApp lines
  • 25x your contact limit for WhatsApp messages

Advanced[edit | edit source]

The Advanced tier provides a comprehensive suite of WhatsApp Messaging features for businesses. You can purchase this with or without an ActiveCampaign Email account. This tier includes the following:

  • 5 account users
  • 5 WhatsApp lines
  • 50x your contact limit for WhatsApp messages

Premium[edit | edit source]

The Premium tier includes everything from Advanced in addition to single sign-on (SSO) and enterprise-level support. You can purchase this with or without an ActiveCampaign Email account. This tier includes the following:

  • 8 account users
  • 5 WhatsApp lines
  • 100x your contact limit for WhatsApp messages

Purchase the WhatsApp Messaging add-on[edit | edit source]

If you have a Plus, Professional, or Enterprise ActiveCampaign Email plan, you can purchase the WhatsApp add-on. Here are some things to note:

  • Only Primary Admins and users with billing permissions can purchase the WhatsApp add-on.
  • Billing for the add-on depends on the type of subscription you have:
    • If you have a monthly plan, you are charged every month.
    • If you have an annual plan, you are charged annually.

Steps to purchase the WhatsApp add-on[edit | edit source]

  1. From your ActiveCampaign account, click your profile > Billing & Upgrade to get to your billing page.
  2. Locate the WhatsApp add-on toward the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the “Add to plan” button.
  4. The “Review Purchase” modal will summarize the changes to your billing. Click “Confirm purchase.”
  5. Once confirmed, your available WhatsApp plan, credits, lines, and other details will be displayed at the top left of your billing page.

Purchase WhatsApp Messaging only[edit | edit source]

You can purchase a WhatsApp plan separately, with the option to add a Plus, Professional, or Enterprise ActiveCampaign Email plan later. To do so:

  1. From the ActiveCampaign billing page, click the “WhatsApp” tab.
  2. Use the dropdowns to select your contact limit and preferred currency.
  3. Click “Buy now” for the WhatsApp tier you wish to purchase.
  4. On the next page, customize your plan. Here, you can adjust your contact limit, purchase messaging credits, add-ons, and more. You can also choose how you want to be billed.
  5. Click the “Continue” button.
  6. On the next page, please complete the required information, including your name, email address, phone number, and any additional details.
  7. Click the “Complete purchase” button.

Purchase Email and WhatsApp together[edit | edit source]

You can purchase WhatsApp and an Email plan together.

  1. From the ActiveCampaign billing page, click the “Email & WhatsApp” tab.
  2. Use the dropdowns to select your contact limit and preferred currency.
  3. Click “Buy now” for the plan you want to purchase.
  4. On the next page, customize your plan. Here, you can adjust your contact limit, purchase messaging credits, add-ons, and more. You can also choose how you want to be billed.
  5. Click the “Continue” button.
  6. On the next page, provide your contact information.
  7. Click “Complete purchase.”

Pricing and credits for WhatsApp messages[edit | edit source]

(This portion of the article describes what constitutes a “Paid Message” as defined in our Terms of Service.)

In general, certain WhatsApp messaging activities incur fees. For these messages, you can purchase pre-paid message credits. Meta determines the types of messages and messaging activities that incur charges and are subject to adjustment by Meta from time to time.

What inbound and outbound messages require credits today?[edit | edit source]

Inbound[edit | edit source]

Inbound WhatsApp messages you receive from a contact do not require message credits, nor do free-form responses to inbound messages if sent within 24 hours of receiving an inbound message.

Outbound[edit | edit source]

You can use pre-paid message credits to send outbound WhatsApp templated messages in a given month. The number of credits available to you resets at the beginning of each month. Unused credits expire and do not roll over to the next month.

There are three types of messages that require credits to send:

  • Marketing messages - include promotional offers, product announcements, and other content designed to increase awareness and engagement of your brand.
  • Utility messages - are more transactional and include account and order updates, alerts, confirmations, and the like.
  • Authentication messages - include multi-factor authentication and one-time password codes.

The number of credits required to send a message depends on the recipient's location and the type of message you send. Below are breakdowns of credits used per message based on the geographical location of the recipient.

Please note that if Meta makes changes to its pricing model, this may impact your credit pricing. If this happens, we will seek to update this help article quickly to reflect those changes. However, you will still be responsible for charges you incur as a result of Meta’s revised pricing (even if Meta’s pricing changes are implemented and effective before this article can be updated to reflect these changes). Purchase additional messaging credits[edit | edit source]

You can purchase additional messaging credits at any time:

  1. From your ActiveCampaign account, click your profile > Billing & Upgrade.
  2. Click “Edit” next to the “X WhatsApp Credits” on the top left of your screen.
  3. A modal window will appear. Click the dropdown and select the additional credits you want to add to your plan.
  4. The modal will display the cost of your WhatsApp credits. Click the “Continue” button.
  5. Click the “Confirm Purchase” button on the next screen.
  6. The updated WhatsApp credit amount will appear in the upper left corner of your billing page.

Message credit overages[edit | edit source]

If you exceed your pre-paid monthly message credit limit in a given month, you will be charged an overage rate on a per-credit basis for each additional messaging credit you use over your monthly limit, according to the table below. As mentioned above, the number of credits required to send a message depends on the recipient's location and the type of message being sent. Overage rates may also vary by currency based on your location.
